Methods of surface Hardening

Surface hardening is the selective heat treatment in which the surface layers of the product are of high toughness while maintaining a solid core.

Following the method of heating, the surface of the cooling can be divided into two types.

1. The flame hardening,

2. Induction quenching

Flame hardening :

In the process, gas-flame quenching consists of heating the metal surfaces with the help of an oxy-acetylene torch. The flame is monitored by a flow of water that comes from the heated metal layer, and thus, to heal. Only a thin film on the heated surface for the coagulation temperature. In the process, it is recommended for medium-carbon and low-alloy steels. Small parts can be independently heated and then quenched. Cylindrical parts can slowly turn it and warm it up, exposing their surfaces, with the flame of the torch. The parts which are to be successful, to be flame-hardened belong to a rack of equipment, gear wheels, cams, and cams.

Induction quenching :

In the induction to be scared of the procedure is the same as for a hot cure. However, the high-temperature, high-frequency, is carried out by the ac power. ?????????? The area is closed (no contact information) in the inductance of the coil. The passage of the current through the coil causes an induced current, which warms very quickly to deter the range, followed by a shower scare you.

It is a process of surface hardening by an induction furnace. However, if a large number of identical items are to be superficial, Instagram, they are economical and effective. Parts that are subjected to induction hardening, in particular, crankshafts, transmission shafts, belts, connecting rods, gears, cylinders, drive.
